Mercedes CLA

Mercedes CLA is a coupe with four doors based on the A-class, inspired by the CLS. It is presented at the Detroit salon a week.

In April 2012 showed a concept car called the Mercedes Concept Coupe Style. Now, the production-ready car presented in Detroit. Mercedes CLA has been allowed to keep the overall flowing lines of the concept of a sloping roofline and four doors.

The car's lines will contribute to a low drag, actually the lowest aerodynamic drag of any production car of Mercedes, with a drag coefficient of 0.23.

The shapes reminiscent of the Mercedes CLS. However, CLA is smaller. The height and width dimensions are the same as the last Mercedes A-class, on which the CLA is based. CLA is contrast 33.8 cm longer than the A-Class.

Initially the car will be offered as CLA 180 with a 120-horsepower gasoline engine, or CLA 250 with a turbocharged 208 bhp petrol engine. A diesel engine will also be available with 168 hp, the model CLA 220 CDI. Later on, among other things, also an AMG version of the car.

The engines are mounted transversely and CLA are front-wheel drive. As for transmissions, there is a six-speed manual or a sjustegad dual clutch transmission. Later will also be offered to the four-wheel drive car.

The buyer should be able to choose between two suspension settings with the purchase of the car - comfort or sport. The latter makes the car 2 cm lower in the front and 1.5 cm lower back.

CLA is equipped with a variety of assistance and safety systems as a new radar-based auto brake that works at up to 200 km / h.

Inside the cabin, found a variety of mutlimediasystem offering several apps and features. A 5.8-inch touch screen is standard.

Exactly when the car will go on sale in Sweden and at what price is not known. In the UK, sales are expected to start in May and in America in september.
